Live Your Daydream

As many of you that have been following my journey both on the blog and social media know, I quit my “day job” back in April to pursue self-employment. It has been crazy, exciting, overwhelming, incredible and downright scary, but everyday I wake-up knowing I get to do what I truly love.

When I started college (and blogging) self-employment started peeking more + more into my line of vision for a few different reasons.

The top three being:

  • I wanted to be able to travel often.
  • I wanted to be able to set my own hours to live a life I truly love (now I can catch that 9am yoga class or work at 10pm when my creative juices suddenly start flowing!)
  • I wanted to be genuinely excited over the work I put out into the world.

Now that I’ve been on my own for about 5 months, all of those benefits + more have become my reality and I’m so grateful for every opportunity I’ve been awarded and I continue to be blown away by the amazing people I encounter in my day-to-day.

I’m not saying it’s easy, it’s by far one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it’s also the most rewarding and now that I’m here, I can’t imagine doing anything else.

I wanted to drop-in today and share this with you all in order to encourage you to live your dream life, whatever that may be.

It’s possible. You’re capable. You wouldn’t have been given a dream if you didn’t have the power to make it your reality.

Don’t forget to live your daydream.

I think we all need that reminder once in a while! In some ways I think I let my dreams take a back seat to other things going in my life. Had a baby. Moved twice in two years. Plus other life issues. It bogs you down. But sometimes you just gotta put it aside and go after what you want. I’ve started doing that recently and it feels good!

    • http://www.kayliwanders.com Kayli Schattner

Love it, Trish! And I always think it’s important to remind ourselves that our career aren’t the only amazing dreams we have to pursue– it sounds like your little bundle of joy made one of your dreams come true! :)

  • http://www.kalanchoe.co.uk/ Katie

Congratulations. I wish I could make a quick transition, but truth is I’d need to make sure that my boyfriend could provide for both of us if things went pear-shaped and currently that’s not an option. I’ll definitely get there though!

I am embarking on a similar journey of living my daydream. It is cool to know I am not the only one who taking that kind of leap to go after it. Right now, working on getting things off the ground and running, it is hard but I am looking forward to the day when my dream is reality and not something just in the distance future. Reading this was an encouragement for me today :)

Cute prints! I love being self-employed. It’s hard at first to balance everything and get used to the ‘freedom’ and you usually end up working MORE, but it pays off in the end.

Thank you so much for this post, Kayli. I have been loving seeing women starting their own businesses and taking charge of their lives. It truly has inspired me in so many ways and opened me up to other possible ways to living and working after I graduate college. I know that I will eventually want to do some freelancing or have a business in some form in the future, but thinking about that can be scary. I think the blogging world does such a good job at encouraging empowerment and truly following your dreams. I love that you can do what you love, Kayli! Keep shining, girl! :)

    • http://gina-alyse.com/ Gina Alyse

Oh, P.S. those prints are beautiful!! Love them so much! :)

This is so awesome! I definitely want to do self-employment but I love my job so much I will probably keep it part time (I teach computers to kids!! Who wouldn’t love that). I wasn’t following your journey back then…how did you end up jumping and doing it?

  • http://www.kati-rose.com/ Kati Rose
